I suspect the answer is that if you don't know this you should call a sparky.

    Peter
The other day I described to my daughter how to find something in the garage by saying "It's right near my big saw". A few minutes later she came back to ask: "Do you mean the black one, the green one, or the blue one?".

I agree with Peter, also insurance etc wise, you must get a licensed electrician to perform all electrical work, and provide you with a certificate.

Hi Neil, a rule I follow is
    when in doubt, don't.

"The training of the eyes to know when an edge is perfectly straight or a surface is flat, free from winding, and straight, is a very important part of a lad's training."

I'd also suggest you call a sparky. However if there is two red wires and only one black wire and one earth wire it suggests that someone has probably done something dodgy. If there is two of each wire then that is pretty normal, it just means the power loops off to another gpo somewhere.

Just another thought though, is this just a single gpo or does it also have a light switch on the same plate?

Disclaimer above applies to my advice, i take no responsibilty for unqualified people doing electrical work.
