Default While in the pub tonight !!!!!

In the pub tonight the talk got round to the new policeman in the next town.
someone said he was a member of some weird church group and amid lots of laughter, names true and made up were bandied about.
Then the publican said he had heard the story and he was sure it was something like Flying Spaghetti.
At this the jokes were coming thick and fast with people telling the publican to stop drinking his own beer.

However when i got home and googled sure enough there it was.
now i'm not sure if this is a spoof or for real but i'll let you make up your own mind.

It's for real. $20 gets you ordained as a minister.

The Church of the FSM started a number of years ago when a US state wanted to introduce 'intelligent design' as well as/instead of evolution in science class*, to essentially illustrate the sillyness of trying to shoehorn a faith/belief based world view into science (ie if the 'god did it' world view is seen as equal to a testable hypotheses, then please add my noodle-creation based world view to the science class as it is just as valid as any other god based system)

I occasionally put down that I'm a member of the CoFSM on forms that ask for religious denomination.

    PS
The FSM afterlife promises a land with a beer volcano and a stripper factory!!!!

Some have indeed been touched by His noodly appendage. A 'Pastafarian' copper would be considerably more trustworthy than say a Scientologist.

It should be said though, that FSM is in fact a parody.

Exactly. It's the same reason why the 'mainstream' religions aren't willing to attack the tax free status of some of the fringe dwellers. Start to define a cult and they're all in trouble.
