We discovered, quite by accident, that our Blanco dishwasher will not pump out water if the drain is blocked, was on the verge of calling in a service person when I noticed the sink did not empty.
It seems that there is some sort of sensor that lets Mr Pump know that the water can't get out and turns it off and beeps at you.
Cleared the blockage and dishwasher was happy, so was the Blanco Sorry Dear, it was only a joke.
Pity they don't do something similar with washing machines (maybe they do now).
Stupidity kills. Absolute stupidity kills absolutely.

My late father & I came up with a solution for our washing machine - several metres of clear flexable PVC pipe in 32mm (38?) size & an Agricultural UMHW pipe connector to match. I fitted one end of the connector the hose & left the screw fitting off the other end, which leaves the red plasitc inner joiner exposed - this push fits into the water outlet & hangs over the sink in case of leaks or other malfunctions. The free end of the pipe just goes outside onto the lawn.

The only problem I've had is a few rare cases of syphoning, where the pipe doesn't clear between outlet & re-fill - water keeps going into the machine & gets sucked straight out onto the lawn. The trick seems to be keeping the hose sloped evenly downhill (no uphill sections) so it drains out completely while the washer decides to go onto the next phase.
