Remote for BMW motorbike
My son in Adelaide bought an ex-cop BMW motorbike at a Pickles Auction (I did the online bidding for him).
Anyway, in the condition report it states it has 2 remotes/keys, he gets the bike picked up a specialist motorbike transport company, driver notices there is only one key, so he notes it on the receipt and gets Pickles to countersign it.
So son goes in to bat with Pickles for the second key, they haven't got it, their motto apparently is "No care, no responsibility"
He decides that life is too short and contacts the BMW motorbike service place in Adelaide (the only one), expecting to pay something between $400 and $600 for a remote/key.
They tell him, no problem, when these bikes are made they make 10 remote/keys for them, 2 get shipped with the bike, the other 8 are stocked by BMW in Malaysia. They cost $95 each and will take 2 weeks to arrive, ordered by VIN number.
He just about fell off his chair, not often you get a pleasant surprise when it comes to spare parts, particularly for anything BMW.

But how much did the bike cost???
On the issue of the advertised 2 keys; I think that he'd have a case with the SA Fair Trading Dept and maybe at least worth an email asking the question especially if he has copies of all the advertising, online quoting and bill of sale paperwork.....
He still might not get the second key, but I''m pretty sure the Pickles Auction people would get a good rocket from the SA Fair Trading Dept....

A couple of years ago I needed new remotes for my vw...$95 a piece from local dealer or $40 for 2 from a place in China...the internet is a great place...
Semtex fixes all

One of my Forester keys died; a programmed unit. I'd replaced the battery. It's quite a hassle to replace the key and I mentioned it to my panel beater. He pulled it apart, cleaned the battery contacts and bent them a bit to increase the grip, and bingo. No charge. I dropped him in a six-pack later.

Great to see that the mates rates way of doing business is still alive and well.
All too often today the almighty $ gets in the way.
Just one concern, Ern, you refer to "my panel beater" - some could infer that you need his services on some form of regular basis.
