Yes Fred, the spur going up to Hotham is a technical bit of road. Hard to ride fast and smooth cos of short straights and tight bends. Over the plateau is magic OTOH - fast sweepers with good sightlines. Off it down to Omeo is different again; keep your nerve and it can be done fast and smooth - one for experienced riders.

There's a limit to what the family want to hear.

Now the paw's settled down a bit, the cracked rib is keeping me awake at night.

Have discovered that there's a worse thing than tossing and turning, and that's not being able to!

Well I saw a specialist physio and now have new exercises to keep the fingers and elbow flexible.

The old cast was by turns ineffective or torture so she fitted a thermoplastic splint with perforations so it breathes. It's v. Flash Gordon: silver with red straps.

Should see the looks I get walking down the street ... lol.

Continue to get great support from the TAC; they paid 2 nights motel accomm needed as the crash was in the country, inc travel costs for my partner to come down from Melb to ferry me around; and they'll cover 2 hours of gardening a month.

Personally I prefer to take my medicine internally and let it work its way out = no evaporation and you get the full dose.

Yeah, I am chirpier thanks Bob.

The north paw is now close to useless but I've learned to open a bottle with the sth paw and two bare feet .. result!

Next challenge will be to trim the face fungus with the left hand .. that result may not be pretty.

Next week they'll x-ray the paw and if it looks OK the wires will be extracted and the wrist can come out of the splint when at rest.

Might then get a decent night's sleep ... lookshurry!

ps hard to manage the pain killers; the opiate sends me off nicely but is too much, and I end up sleeping the wrong way and wake up in in worse pain after 4 hours or so and that's the end of the night; the strong over-the-counter jobs have me awake ditto and another dose may or may not get me back to sleep.

LOL, the clinic nurse had it worse than me with a broken arm; getting the bra on, she said, the hubby could help with; dealing with other things wasn't quite as simple

Geez Ern, you would ha thort that the Flash Gordon splint came with a built in bottle opener . Good to hear you are up for the challenge of the facial follicles, soon you won't have to back up to the polishing wheel any more to wipe your bum.

It's a bummer managing the pain relief, especially when the novelty has worn off and all you want is some relief from having to deal with it all the time. I don't have any useful suggestions that haven't already been mentioned, but if you decide to to opt for Rum Relief, can I recommend a drop from Jamaica branded Premium Estate Origine. SIL gave me a bottle for Xmas, and it helped dull the pain of having to salvage my boat from an Island bay last week. Not too shabby the next morning - something I put down to the lack of impurities in the product.

Keep healing sport, I'm sure it will fade like the pain of childbirth. (I can't remember it hurting at all)
