If you notice the sliding cursor across the top this enables one to see views going back in time but not all zoom levels are available for all dates. On the pro-version (which you have to pay for) there are a lot more images and there is image matching software available. This is what city councils use to pick up the installation of unapproved buildings etc.

Yes, or you can use the dropdown box.

I notice there is a big difference in resolution between city and country images.

Still pretty good though, we live on 25 acres and I can fill the screen with just our house!

There are only 2 dates for our area Feb 2010 and October 2010 and it is amazing to see the difference in our 2 dams between those dates!

We have about 20 views available, latest being last month. This is because our council really uses this product.

A bit sad though when you look at where you used to live and see what's happened. Way better than Google Earth, I've bookmarked this one.
I make things, I just take a long time.

Might be OK in populated areas but google is much better in the bush.... this site doesn't have our road on it or the one it turns off our all the other gazetted roads in the area, just the main highway.

Funny, we are about 15k out of Bendigo Vic and Google is hopeless, no detail at all.

On this site I can fill the whole screen with just our house and still see detail. Urban areas have more detail again.

On Google I might just get down to about 100 acres without much detail at all.

    Edit:

Just looked at Google Earth again, not a patch on the Photomap site and of course they only show one shot, no comparison with shots taken on other dates.

On Google maps, you can see where the bitumen ends on our road & you can see a car parked outside our house.

On the photomaps site you can't even work out where the road is in the blur.

Even Cairns is just a blurry mess.

This is how it looks on google maps.

See what you mean Cliff, it is the reverse for my place, but even Google Maps looks better here zoomed in on about 100 acres than your link to Google Maps for Cairns.

When you look at the link above for the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne the detail is astonishing.

As I said earlier though there is a distinct difference in resolution between city and country. My son lives in Adelaide and when I bring his house up I can count the roof tiles on his place. My daughter lives in Kersbrook (near country) and the detail on her place is not nearly as good at less magnification.

    Did you try zooming in?

I zoomed in to 144 Buchan St where we used to live & I could see the meteor rental truck in the driveway with the loading plank sticking out the back.
That must have been taken when we moved out a couple of years ago.

Very poor for us in country vic. The only picture was taken in 2004 and obviously things have improved in definition since then. At the moment Google maps is far better for our place.
