To put this into perspective let's take a point in time 64,000 years ago (and we know the planet is much older than that) making predictions on 500 years of data is like predicting what a 64 year old person will do based on the last 6 months of his life.

Can someont tell me where the experts get the data to make these predictions?
Well said grumpy, a few people on the far north Queensland coast would have no difficulty believing the climate or weather is changing. Last Friday was bloody hot and just as dry. Today there is flood warnings listed.

If he really said that, put up or shut up. Show us where it's reported or recorded. I'm sure if he said something as controversial as that, it would have been reported in a reputable publication.

Maybe you are but I'm not.

I'm getting mightily sick of this bickering of "he said", "you said", "I said" and then demanding to know where it is written and where.

It's childish and maybe you should all grow up and stop hijacking this thread which was mainly about the well being of those suffering this wild weather.

Hang on, Peter. The thread was hijacked, if that's the case, at posts 2 and 6. Damian made a very definite claim to bolster the argument that he has pursued endlessly on other threads. I doubt that it's true, but I'm willing to be persuaded if he can show me the evidence for it - a trait noticeably absent from many of those antagonistic to the notion of anthropogenic climate change.
Are you saying we should just let any statement go unchallenged?
I've pretty much stayed out of this argument until now, because I doubt that I'm going to change the minds of those with fixed opinions, but I'm not going to let that one go unchallenged. Of course, if Garnaut did say that, he's a bigger fool than I take him for, but if Damian cannot substantiate his claim, he should acknowledge that it was plucked from a hat.

Firstly I object to the plural use of "we are waiting" as it implies that I'm waiting, and I'm not. I couldn't give a rat's tossbag about it.

Yes the thread has been hijacked and it should not have been , I have relatives (and my wife is currently visiting them) in SE Queensland and the conditions there should not be belittled by this never ending saga between the climate changers and non climate changers.

That debate, useless as it is because no one will ever change anyone's opinion, should be on its own.

Each side is yelling out but no one is listening. Bit like stupid dogs baying at the moon on a full moon IMHO.

As to what Garnaut or anyone else says is totally irrelevant until such time as the scientists and politicians are willing to answer the BOLT question instead of ignoring it.

So that this hijacking stops I will not post any more on this subject.

    Peter.

I am sick of the "entire" argument.
    Read some History.
    Read some Archeology.
    Read some Paleontology.
    Read some Geology.

    Hope my spellings are correct.

This planet has been changing, long before the puny human came in to being.
We may have added a bit of trouble to our environment in the past 200 years of industrial development. But nature still has the power to make our puny efforts look very small.

The only change is in man's ability to monitor global events in real time and transmit them around our world.

Get over it, please. We do not live in a stable environment and never have and never will.

And we are on the downside of Cliff, guess where the water is going? The creek behind the house is flooded, but we can still get into town.
And thank you everybody for being so concerned about us up here.

    Weather forecast for Hobart tomorrow.
Possible snow down to 800 metres.
    - .o over night temperatures in some parts of the state.

Yet. ! Saturday and Sunday were very hot, needed hat, sunglasses and full coverage shirt to be out in the sun.

    It's just weather.
