That sure is some bad luck there Bille..I try to steer clear of submersible pumps, I have not owned any personally but a person not far away has and he has nothing but trouble all the time with them...He has three and they only seem to last a few years..
We just use a Davey jet pump for our house water..The original one lasted 20 years, but in that time we had the motor rewound once..We replaced it a couple of years ago with a new Davey and it has not missed a beat....Plus the big advantage with them is you can uaully fix them yourself while a submersible you have to get out an electrician or pump repair man all costing many $$$$..

Several of my neighbors put them down about the same time but put down what some would consider "Lesser" brands and they haven't had any problems, not that I'm hopeing they do.
I personally think it was a dud unit from day 1 because something about the demeanor/body language of the Grundfos service manager gave me a gut feeling I'm correct about why the shaft failed.
I went again with Grundfos because I have used other of thier pumps for circulating hot water in hospitals/hotels etc for years and have generally had a very low failure rate, so I think they are a good product just too darn expensive.
