It is very much an acquired taste, but being an Aussie, I think it now embedded in our dna.

If you every get a chance to try it don't lay it on thick, an very light smear (almost transparent for first time tasters) is all you will need.

Being a Brit by birth it is Marmite for me -- breakfast many mornings now going on for close to eighty years:



My American born family -- and friends -- think it is disgusting and the few who have actually tried it pronounced it "awful". Like Stuart said, it's in my DNA

Of oourse, as I point out to them, it is the only bad habit I have!

BTW, I swap off with Vegemite from time to time.

You know, I have been having avocado with my Marmite/Vegemite recently and I really enjoy it.

Sorry to say I was raised on promite - so I am a weakling when it comes to vegemite.

I know... I'm a disgrace.

Some people love it, some people hate it. I for one absolutely HATE IT.

A liking for Vegemite should be part of the test for Oz citizenship

Nothing beats a bloody good strong Veggie Broth on a cold day to warm your cockles

marmite is only slightly worse than vegimite both should be banned by the food authorities. the best way to deter people from coming to Oz.....make them eat a jar of it.

If you haven't put two tablespoons full on a single slice of fresh bread then it's not worth it.

Babies first solid food was usually Farex with a teaspoon of vegemite.


Bugger off and leave Bundy alone.....

I like my vegemite thickly spread. None of that thin scraping for me. When I was a kid I used to eat it out of the jar with a spoon - used to drive Mum spare.
