    Default Whats a spoof ?

Guessing its a bad, bad man trying to pinch my money somehow....

I'm new to E-bay. I just got a message informing me that a message I sent the seller was under attack or whatever. I didn't really understand it. All I did was ask the seller how much shipping will cost me to Australia, on a handplane I liked.

Amongst other comments this was in the warning....
Panda Titanium Antivirus 2005 has detected that this email could be spoofed
Take maximum precautions, as spoofed emails could be the sign of a fraud attempt

Is this something I really need to worry about ? Is it a worry for those who use a credit card over the net ? .....Are these 'spoooofs' trying to see credit card details ?

I send money orders from the post office when I buy things. I don't use a credit card. Do I need to still worry about these things ?

    Thanks

    Jake

    Default It's dangerous out there

Spoofs are what ebay calls fake emails trying to get your info, whether its credit card or your log in or whatever.

I've had quite a few on the email address I use almost solely for ebay so I presume a seller passed it on when I asked a query.

Its a bit hard to tell what the problem is, with that amount of info. You can always report the email to ebay (check their website) and they may be able to advise.

Its not just credit card details - if they get your id and password they can create havoc.

Perhaps others may have more info.

    Good luck.

G'day Mr Ripper, the emails you refer to are also known as "PHISHING" if you go to the community forums there used to be a lady called "lindaroxanne" of the like who spent alot of time gathering info and putting it on the online community pages found here
    http://pages.ebay.com.au/community/chat/index.html
