You would think it is simple to understand and do.
When working, the unskilled and brain dead would wind up the leads in no particular fashion, leave them on the floor near the power outlets and always leave them with the plug ends on the bottom of the coil. So when you wanted to use it next you had to turn the coil over so the lead would uncoil.

But winding it like that actually twists the cord as you UN wind it. You would have to unwind it by carefully untwisting it. With the "roady wrap: you don't have to cos each 2nd twist already untwists the twist you put in the twist before.

For a long cord you can't go past the chain knot with the cord doubled, for medium cords my son (the roadie) showed me what the professionals do (TL's method) and for short cords, I use the butterfly over the elbow method. Plain old loop winding finds no use at all for me.
