Just wanted to throw this up here. PUsh stick
I've been at woodwork on a professional level since 1982, and have worked in a lot of shops on 3 continents over that time...
Every wood shop I've started work in, the first thing I do is make my push stick. It usually takes the boss by surprise, and they ask what I'm doing... The look on their face is always priceless when I say: I'm making my push stick LOL... Literally! every shop I've ever been in has absolute s%&t push sticks on the tablesaw and jointer and I refuse to use them. The pic attached is not my design but it's one I picked up 40 years or more ago and is the best, most stable push stick I've ever come across. YMMV
It's two layers of ply to give it resistance to rocking. And the length works really well on the jointer, especially with 12" and wider. It allows the operator to bear down but also able to resist strong vibration and or a strong kick back, while also allowing the operator to push the wood though with great force if necessary, without failing.
Ply is the best because of its strength in all directions.
