Made to Order chisels
After reading this, someone may tell me where to buy exactly what I am after rather than have them hand made. That is fine with me.
I am after 3 chisels, 1/8" (3.2mm), 1/4" (6.4mm) and 1/2" (12.7mm) . I hope my imperial to metric conversion is ok.
I prefer Butt chisels due to their short lenght. 17 - 18cm total length.
I want to use them for fine dovetailing and therefore require a very fine bevel on the edge. 0.0 to 0.5mm for at least the first 30mm of the blade.
I live in Melbourne so would prefer to have them made or sourced locally.
I am now using a japanese Dozuki 150mm fine precision pull saw along with a Bridge City JM-1 Joint Maker (with guide blocks) which has made the cutting of the dovetails an absolute dream. I want to get the chisilling bit in more in line with the quality of the cutting so any advice will be more than welcome.
regards

Harold and Saxons are very highly regarded, and for good reason.
I am out of touch with their processing times, but in the past there has been something of a wait for their custom chisels.
If you would like them sooner you might consider Blue Spruce or Lee Valley.
Otherwise, the wait for Harold and Saxons will be worth it.
I have the Blue Spruce and love them. Mine have cocobolo handles FWIW.
Cheers

I am waiting on my H&S chisels ordered through the group buy. As I understand it, there are delays.
However even though I want them, rather than looking at other options, I am prepared to wait - from all accounts, they are that good.
