I needed to install some cross dowels, that I picked up at the wood working show, in a large bookcase that I ....hmmm....acquired
A couple of goes in scrap confirmed that I couldn't drill it acurately enough by hand so a jig was required.
A couple of doweling jigs proved to be inadequate so I made one to suit the cross dowels and screws I had.
I used the drill guides from my Stanley #59 dowel jig, some brass screws from LV that were floating around and a couple of pieces of scrap HW timber.
It worked a treat and I had 12 cross dowels installed in no time. The guides can be moved depending on where the fixture needs to go on the carcass.
