Doin' the machine shuffle....
...also known as 'small shed syndrome'. I was asked to show my castor setups that I use to shuffle everything around my 'too small' shed. Both the lathe and tablesaw lifters only raise the machine about 8mm off their feet - just enough to allow them to move on the fixed castors at the other end of the machine. The arrangement on the lathe works fine for the MC-900 plus a few kilo's of ballast but I'll probably have to come up with something more serious for the Stubby when I get it. Doubt if the lathe bounces around any more with this setup than any other lathe that isn't bolted down.
My tablesaw is my home-made job so it's not very heavy - the setup would need to be beefed up a bit for a cast-iron topped saw. The lever (red angle-iron linking the 2 cams) is simply pushed down or lifted with your foot - very easy to manouvre but stays put fairly well when lowered. The feet are from an old washing machine and can be adjusted for level by screwing them in or out.
Then there's the bandsaw lifter as well....

A great idea and very professionally executed. Your lifters make mine seem like meccano!

Excellent
Well designed and executed.
I would like to use those piccies at school to illustrate the basic application of levers and pivots to my Man Arts cherubs. Well done.

I had space issues in my new shop and decided rather than putting each individual machine on wheels I made a large rolling bench that I placed several machines on. Sort of like killing several birds with one stone. I can roll all of those birds out at the same time too.
Here is a picture of my rolling bench:

As a fellow small shed warrior I REALLY appreciate the detail of your attachments and will try to install something like them on my lathe and bench. The washing machine legs sound great.
I'm off to the secondhand whitegoods place and the recycling centre this week.I am now inspired to get mobilewine and wood
ahhhh yes life is good
