dresser for chainsaw
bar.
It's really a metal working tool (but so are most sharpening jigs) so I thought I'd post it here.
Although I dress my chainsaw bars using a 250 mm diam metal cutting wheel mounted on my old table saw I saw these pieces of metal staring at me from my scrap metal box and a couple of hours later, here it is.
2 pieces of 3mm Ally angle, one 6 mm piece of black anodized Ally and Ally handle cut from a piece of 12 mm ally plate. 5 mm Allen bolts in my spare nuts and bolts jar.
Can hold most file thicknesses (the file shown is outta my scraps box. Angle between file and bar micro adjustable using allen bolts.

You might also be able to use this gizmo to joint handsaws....you just need something to keep the file at 90 degrees to the saw blade!

Glue some sandpaper to bottom of the handled bit and it can be used as a push block.

Cheers guys,
I put in a new file and used it again yesterday to dress an old chain saw bar - its so nice to use a tool dedicated to the job. It's also very easy to set nice and square to the bar.
I have though of using it to joint hand saws but I will need to mill some slots in the top plate for the allen bolts that pass though it, so the bottom ally angles can tuck in closer to the saw blade.
