Thanks Paul, but that's due to the timber......

I must say that I really like the silver colour against the Jarrah.

By the tittle of this thread I was expecting a shed extension had been done just for drilling process one which would have the Blue Mnts breeze bowing the shaving off as its being used.

Some would be saying it would have made a nice Chopping board, Boxes, Platter or other such piece.

I think its a master piece how ever I am curios why the corner joints and butt joints are not cut/mitred to allow easier movement between the T-tracks?

No need to - if it had been in a benchtop then yes because of the distance.

You're too modest. It's a work of art.

Cheers Damien. Hey man, horses for courses - not everyone wants to spend $110 on the timber (although it was supposed to be $50) or spend 2½ days making it. Truth is, this is all practisng my techniques for the real deal, so if there are any cosmetic cockups (and there are) it doesn't matter so much for the shed.

Art, it's a Wabeco - from Germany via China. You can see the full description here and here.

Great job on your drill press table. We are not competing against each other just sharing ideas and thoughts.

Thanks for that FF.Don't know how I missed all that originally.

    A brilliant set up!!

I have often looked at the units shown at the various Woodworking shows that have
the square arms set at 45*. They are also designed to take saws and routers. Very
versatile but lacking the finesse of your unit. I think your sliding table really gives
Your set a big edge in versatility.

Well done all round good sire!!

Thanks Art. It's Chineseness does show though. I have to have a little shim washer under the collar of the drill to get it close to perpendicular to the table, otherwise it's about 2° out. The grinding of the column is the only thing that actually happens in Germany. The winding mechanism is not as good as it could be and may be subject to wear. I think I'm finding that I have to tighten it up further as time goes on and that makes it more difficult to lower. However, for woodworking purposes it's accurate enough, and I'm very happy with it.

I've only just recently added a timber collar towards the top of the column which is then secured to the wall behind it. This pretty much eliminate any vibration with larger drill bits.

The travelling table is absolutely marvellous and adds tremendous functionality - especially for lining up the drill point to the mark. The more or less unlimited vertical travel is also what I was seeking, rather than a miserable 80mm or even less. The most recent addition before the new deck was the DRO for depth control - a life changer!

Matt - the links work ok for me.
