Drum sander dust extraction and guard
This dust extractor was made by the WA wheat-belt farmer FIL of one of our mens shed members about 80 years ago.
It's beautifully made with a fine level of adjustment.
It originally had a 3HP 3P motor or it which has been replaced by a 1HP single phase motor.
The knobs are steel wheels/gears etc from old farm machinery
The stormwater pipe and PVC fittings dust extractor hood and overhead guard plus the belt guard was made by another mens shed member.
Sorry about the crappy mobile phone pics.
It only has a 4" dust port for the moment because that is the current size of the ducting on our DCs .
When we upgrade to 6" the 6 - 4" transition can be easily removed and the 6" duct can suck direct onto the guard.
The hinged outlet reduces the likelihood of it being fed in the wrong direction.

Very neat.
A nice mix of old and new ingenuity!
