Glue Up Jig for Foam.
I do a lot of glue-ups of curved foam piece to wood. I've always used bike tires since not much "clamping" force is needed to marry the foam to the the wood. Much easier than doing a any tabletop glue up.
I'm trying to make the process a little quicker and would like to make a glue up jig using lead screws with large clamp pads attached to the lead nuts. A simple stop nut on the end of each lead screw so that I can use a cordless drill with a socket as my motor. I'd like to make with 1/2" standard threaded rod but am not sure what kind of bearings need to be used on each end to hold the Allthread in place or what type of lead nut I should use. I'm fine with plastic lead nuts as minimal clamp pressure is needed. This is a quick and dirty type process. No need for backlash prevention and precision step motors. The CNC forums have been overkill. Maybe someone on here could be of some help.
