Default Grinding jigs (for the nth time!)

I know this topic has been done almost to death, but I've been meaning to post my take for some time - just didn't have any pics when the topic came up. Prompted by the move into my new shed, I've remade the rest with some stainless rod liberated from a bit of lab equipment consigned to the skip, so here it is...

I'm a simple soul, and don't like fiddling about too much when re-grinding, so the very simple jigs I have evolved for my needs suit me well. Just a couple of bits of wood, two bolts and wing-nuts. For plane blades, I have one jig with straight and curved edges (the curve is for scrub blades). The other smaller jig is for chisels, etc. What I like most is that for skews, you just flip the whole caboodle over, and get a perfect matching bevel on the other side...

The 8" grinder is a relatively recent purchase, too - replaced an old 6" that served me well for more years than I care to remember. It's billed as a 'slow-speed' grinder, but at 1500 rpm and 8" wheels, it cuts plenty of metal off quickly enough to satisfy me!

lovely figure in the timber of the base.
Oh yeah nice jig. Similar to mine but prettier wood and your stainless rod is better than my old half inch copper water pipe.
    Greenie on the way.
    Cheers

Thanks Caliban - the wood is from scraps - a piece of Red gum for the base and some bits of Qld Maple for the sides. The stainless rod was just a lucky find - before that I had a bit of mild steel rod, but it constantly rusted, which was annoying.
At least your copper pipe won't rust, but don't you find it a bit bouncy for that job?
