Handcut dovetail jig Mk II
I have a small, but very significant modification to my original DT jig, which is at http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...ead.php?t=7221 Consequently, I thought it best to post this separately.
The modification is to the front and sides fences. In Mk I these were two separate items: slide the timber against the side fence, position the front fence, tighten down. This procedure requires that the front fence is aligned with the scribed line that forms the base of the pins.
In Mk II the two fences have been joined together. Now when you position the one side, you automatically set the other square to it. i.e. when you set the side fence, the front fence is immediately square to this. Just slide the front fence to the scribed line and you are set to go.
Remember, the first step in cutting dovetails is to make certain that the timber is perfectly square.
The first three pictures below will illustrate the construction and use. The fourth picture shows the modification to the original front fence.
Regards from Perth

Thanks for the pics. Everything becomes crystal clear to me now. A very simple jig to construct, with the only super vital thing to get 100% correct is the joining of the two fences. i reckon even I could manage that.
Boring signature time again!

For me i'm in the process of designing and developing a dovetailers bench on the attached plans (See Pic) I'm going the incorporate real earth magnets in a hardwood straight edge for chisel/saw guides after some recent success from a simple Jig I developed
See: "Where's Sturdee When I need Him".............Would be interested in your & forum members comments/ideas!!!!
