Hot iron cork stamp
I need to stamp some cork and for that I need an iron stamp to do the job. What I need is a small stamp with around 20mm X 10mm. Anyone knows where can I buy a personalised hot iron stamp like a solder but with a stamp instead a beak? Or someone that can make it for me.
Send me an email to [email protected]
Many thanks in advance

Misan timbers, a forum sponsor has got advertised branding irons that you can get custom made. They have a couple pictures of the irons under 'misanTimbers' forum tab down the left hand side of the main forum page. The phone number for misan is 0418182800

Local hardware store sells 10" nails for $0.50 each. The head is 3/4" diameter. First, you chalk up a couple of big files and flatten the head surface. Finish with a rub on 800 grit sandpaper. I carve brands into the steel of the heads with a Dremel and heavy duty cutoff abrasive wheels. Drill holes for the blind cutouts like the hole in the letter 'R'. Precise shaping is pointless. The relief carving does not need to be any more than 1/16", approx 2mm at most. Add a nice wooden handle. Propane torch to heat it up.
I have learned:
a) that the charring temp seems different for every sort of wood = you must have a test piece to see how the heating process is going.
b) fine detail gets cooked away. Keep it simple. Mine is RV for the Robson Valley. Just sent one off ( MR ) to a carver in Britain. I was more careful, it turned out much, much better than the one I made for myself.
