Mini G clamps
I was making some ukuleles the other day and was using some very small G clamps to hold small bits of timber reinforcing cutouts for tuners etc and I had to do one side at a time because I only had 3 of them.
Thought gee I'd love to get my hands on some more .....
Not too expensive but the postage from England would have meant 3 tiny clamps for $100 - forget it!
Started scratching around thinking surely I have some random bit of metal that could do this.
As it turned out I had an Al extrusion that was made for it, even had holes pre drilled, just had to tap it out.
I then got a bit carried away and made more in different sizes from some 10mm Al bar
Used a 6mm stainless security screw to get the long thread and loctite in a thread coupler as the handle in final pic.
Largest of three originals is pictured with my builds, I did use a lathe to make the brass clamp foot but you could do the whole project with a drill press and hand tools. Scrap Al and under $10 for 5

The full set - I reckon I need some more smaller ones - back to the thread charts.

I use a lot of these - Supercheap Auto Australia
Not in the same league as say Bessey, Record etc but they are pretty good value and perform well.Mobyturns

Yeah - those are actually quite bulky - even mine are bigger than I would like.
The black original is quite fine, very light and great for small spaces.
They are "futters" or at least copies of

And this is why you can never have too many clamps.
Hard to see but there are 6 crammed around this cutout - much easier to fit and reinforce for tuner/pre amp before the back is on.

Ok - I promise I'm done.
Used the Al stand from a dead iMac.
Around 6.5mm thick, got some M4 stainless threaded rod and I'm actually happier with the last ones.
Silver ones bottom row with smaller thread along with the round hole one which is the hole in the stand.
Just locked a bunch of nuts together for handle.
