I hope I'm not out of line here (I'm sure an admin will let me know if I am or not and, though I did look, I could not spot the "Announcements" forum) but I wanted to extend an invitation to any plane makers here on the board, commercial or otherwise, to post some pictures of their work on a new gallery that I've set up on Handplane Central. The purpose of this gallery is to highlight some of the wonderful work that has been done by contemporary plane makers from around the world, as there does not appear to be a central "database" of new work that I can find.

When I started making planes the idea of some sort of database would have been rather laughable as there was so few of us around. Nowadays though there are scores of new plane makers and the idea makes much more sense.

I've contacted about 30 or 40 makers so far, so hopefully the gallery will start filling up over the next few days or so. Currently I've made it so that people can set up their own accounts and add the pictures themselves, along with any captions or information they might want to include, such as constructional notes, materials etc.

If you're interested in participating in this project just point your browser to the link below and register an account. You can start uploading pictures straight away but they won't appear in the gallery until I approve them (which I will obviously). It's set up this way so that spammers won't get through to the gallery and mess things up.

I'll look forward to seeing your planes up on the new gallery and hopefully your work will inspire others to take the plunge.
