I was also taken by the design of your castors/lifting device - is that home made too? Any chance a direct photae to show the critical details? eg, where is the pivot point?

a tin of gilly's floor polish and a rag,apply once a month to any cast iron top ,rub on wipe off,and rust will never bee seen.

Okay TTIT me ol cobber a couple of wee questions if I may

1) whats the white chipboard behind the fence part for? does it play any actual part in the process

2) When moving the log out for the next cut how do you make it square if the fence part is away from the log itself? As is shown in the pics

3) Is the clamping setup on the bottom of the log adjustable for different length logs?

4) Where do you get the rollers!! I can see me needing about 4 sets of them! those infeed/outfeed tables are the ducks knuts but a bit short for some of the longs I intend milling

I have several old fences from table saws that can be butchered to fit the bandsaw and as they at present serve no other purpose other than collecting dust in the corner it would be a good idea cause the metal in at least one is straight and solid... mmm all the bits can be butchered to make what you have achieved I suspect

The resaw table thingy Ive started is simply 2 pieces of 1in ply joined to make a right angle with several squares added to give strength... mmmm may have to put that baby to other uses (see pics this idea came from a book I bought ages ago wherein they showed info on a lot of jigs just not this one so its sorta go as you reckon you shoud)

Are you prepared to draw me some plans for those of us (ala moi) who have distinct difficulties getting measuring sizes from photos? simple drawings and imperial measurements are good

Okay pics are the resaw jig so far 1 2 and 3
4 and 5 are of the pre-existing useless fence that came with it

and one more of the ruddy fence

two is the other fences I have available

3 is of the stand from the sliding compound saw I wont be using in that mode again as its now a part of one of the workbenchs and is available to butcher as needed

And 4 is of two table saw wings that were sent to me instead of the proper cast iron ones that were meant to come with the saw... these can be used for various things and perhaps be butchered for this?... actually nix that I think Im going to somehow set them up on the thicknesser to make the in/outfeed tables there a bit longer

The chipboard (melamine) is mainly for there normal use of the saw for a bit of height but the slippery surface helps the sled get past easy.

The sled is only used for the first cut on one face and with the resulting flat on the sled, a second cut at 90degrees. The rest of the cuts are made with those first 2 surfaces on the table and against the fence. (I hope that's what you meant! )

In the first pic of the sled, you can see the black hand screw that lets the clamp slide along the length of channel. I used the 1m length of the chanel 'because it was there' but now that I know it works, I have a 2.2m length I'll be using for 'Mark II'. The 1m sled will still get used for short logs which I get a lot of with our scrubby desert trees .

The rollers were from Solly's (now called the Warehouse - basically any $2 shop). I've found in use that you could spread them out further. Mine are spaced at 175mm but you could go to double that I reckon .

Your existing fence looks a hell of a lot better than the one that came with my saw. Unless it flexs too much, I reckon I'd stick with it.

It's a bit of the topic, but could you show a couple of side photos of your fold down wheels, in the up and down posi. They look like a simple idea.

Both mate!! The fence flexes wobbles bends and never and I DO MEAN NEVER is acurate... drives me insane... its also too friggin small anything over 3in high is buggared as it just doesnt stay straight flexes so the cuts wigglin wobblin all over... and no its not the saw its the fence Ive watched the damned thing move better than John Trivolta in Stayin Alive :eek:

Ive chosen the fence I will alter... will need to find a tap and die set from somewhere to cut a new thread in the tensioner but thats no real biggie and will have to cut it all to the shorter length again no real biggie... just have to get well enough to do it is all

But a little bit at a time steady steady do this bit one day that bit the next and in no time at all (about a bloody month ) there will be a wangdangdoodle of a fence and a resaw fence setup on that bandsaw!!

Shane - I'll see what I can come up with. I don't have any drawings as such - most of what I do is on the fly with whatever I can scrounge, rat or resurrect from rubbish. I'll take some pics and measurements - give me a couple of days though - busy, busy!


BPJ1968 - As for Shane - gimme a "cuppla days!!!!"

BPJ1968 - Had an extended lunch break so here's the pics of the bandsaw lifter thingy. It looks a bit awkward but it works fine. I did it differently to my other gear as I wanted more clearance so I could move it across the pavers to the garage if necessary - got 30mm out of it! Could be a bit of a toe-basher but the saw is top heavy so I had to go wide for stability.

My turn!!! Whaaahooo!! Its my turn next!!!
