Thank you for your kind words guys. Makes it worthwhile when something you make is approved by your peers.
I just wish I had time to make some nice boxes to use it on. So far it's only done one slice in anger.
There may be some limitations to this particular design, but I tried to account for them all when I built it.
My only real main aim was to make it so that there was only ever one cut through the base. Hence the mitre gauge 'slider' as opposed to the norm of having it run along the rip fence. At least I know I got that part right. I still suppose the are others who prefer to go that route, but I just wanted to come up with something different while still hopefully getting it to perform the way it was designed to.

I do have another bigger combination jig in the works, but it'll be a while before that's finally ready. This one will be a multiple combination, picture and cupboard door frame and mitre joint clamp as well as being a jig for cutting a straight line on a rough edged piece of timber.
Again tho, it's another combination of others' ideas. I just have the dream of trying to put them all into a neater and more viable package.

Thanks mate, I forgot to show you a box that I had actually made ages ago. I never even thought to show you during your quick flying stopover. It's been sitting here covered up in all manner of dust and whatever else we throw up during the course of our shedly hours.
Now that you've reminded me about it, I'll see if I can scratch it up from wherever it's been hiding. The last I remember of it, was trying to fathom a way to finish mounting the lid, and because no-one was interested in it, I just let it sit there collecting dust.
It's certainly nothing to rival the precision and care you put into your work, because at the time I was just looking for something to do with some "scrap" pieces of funny wood and if I remember correctly, I was might have been trying a drawer locking joint as well, but it's been so long, I can't really remember exactly how I constructed it. All I know is that the lid isn't on properly.....which probably says a lot about the guy who made it too.
I'll see if I can get a pic of it tomorrow for you, only if you promise not to laugh too much.

Please do show us a pic when you get a chance. I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Someone might have some ideas re mounting the lid, too. I used 'Smart' hinges on my last (first) box. Very easy to fit, if they're suitable. The router table does all of the work.
I have used rebated butt hinges in the past, but they're a PITA by comparison.

I'll have to get on with my box in the next day or two. It's looking neglected.
(The VW's been getting lots of attention though.)

Not wanting to upset one of our wonderful Mods....and heaven forbid that I should ever want to get on their bad side....I went out and found said box. Took a couple of quick pics and by the time you read this I will hopefully have them posted in the correctly allotted and designated segment of the Forum .
So I guess that means that this thread will now be moving over to the box making section.
