    There is an awful lot of rubbish on Youtube but this is definitely not in that category, Patrick Sullivan gives a tutorial on making a spokeshave as only he can.

    Chris,
    This is something I have been mulling over so is kind of on my to do list. I have flat and a round bottomed stanley and record shaves and while they work fine the metal handles are well metal. I have never used a wood bodied shave so far but thinking about it seriously. Was having a look on line for blades but I guess they could also be made.

    Excellent video.

    Blades are readily available:

    When making the spokeshave you need the square handles as reference points and clamping points. Suggest that you do everything else up to and including fine sanding before you start shaping the handles.
