Have i reached the Zen of design, should i pack my bags an be heading of too France,or Italy too run a design department.
Ye probably not, but after a couple more goes,i think I’m getting somewhere, tho it strangely looks like a the Stanley Squirrel one, that I’m sure is just coincidentally.
Now i just have too figure out, do I fabricate it,or cast it(note point I’ve never cast anything in my life).
I’m considering the fabricating road.
Cheers Matt.

Looking good Matt. How’s it feel in the hand?
“cast” Are you thinking of making it from brass?

I would be intrigued to cast it just for the challenge of it. But in terms of feel I would fabricate it and make sure the the mushroom head is wooden. Wood would feel better in the hand than a metal surface.
You might apply similar philosophy as you did for the tote of "The Body"

Squirrel Block plane , help kind of.
I have actually looked at a few YouTube videos on casting, especially lost foam casting.
I could just literally carve it out of a chunk of brass also, I have a two inch wide bar by about 300 mm long, tho I need to check first if it’s the same “colour”
Cklett, you have got me pondering now about inserting a timber button into the Tote.
I think that’s what you mean?.
I personally don’t mind the feel of metal in the hand, nor do I mind the feel of timber in the hand.
So I’m away for work for two or three days, I give that some thought.
Meanwhile this morning before I departed for work, I ruffle cut a mock up out of some pine for the front knob,
I had previously been feeling a bit frustrated with the whole build.
But after seeing the mocked up front bun in place, I’ve got my fire back(lol am now am away from the bench for a few nights [emoji20]).
The last pic is how I would like the front knob to look.
(Let’s make that the second last picture lol)
Cheers Matt.

Just wondering what's happening with this one Matt. Have you finished it and been too busy using it to post an update or are you still trying to decide between timber and metal?Cheers, Bob the labrat
