Thread: Succumbing to pressure from Ian

Well not exactly pressure to build, but to finally pull my finger out and finish.

I made all the brass bits pretty much straight after the original plane build for the comp. Another 1 inch and a 3/4 inch. As I gave away the first 1 inch made to the father in law.

So after lots of procrastinating on what to use for the infills I finally settled on what I think is a bit of figured blackwood for the 3/4 inch, which the tiny piece has been sitting around for nearly 6 year I think. Most of the figure is where you cant see on the wedge.IMG_2702.jpg

For the 1 inch I ended up just using a small offcut of Rosewood.

More lessons learnt.
I get a bit over excited with the soldering and use way too much which results in a lot of tiresome filling to clean up.
Easy to go from not enough mouth opening to too much very quickly.
And once again for the 3/4 inch the blade doesn't sit perfectly square, need to tap it a little side ways but can take an even shaving.
As for the 1 inch, i don't know what I done wrong here but the blade sits perfectly square and cuts lovely. Still scratching my head about that one.

They could both use polishing up a bit more but they work and thats good enough for me.
