Whittling knives
Hi there,
Here are a couple of whittling knives I made, forged from spring steel, finished off with a bit of hand filing. I like the recurve blade shape, which seems to wrap around a curve, especially working a branch or round tenon. The bottom one has a rosewood handle, the other some unknown dark chocolate timber salvaged from a pallet.
Wickedly sharp, lots of fun to use, even sharpening a pencil !!
Cheers,Andy Mac

NIce Andy! What type of fuel do you use in your forge? Coke, charcoal or gas?

Great stuff. From the shape of the knives it seems that you have made it "just right". Must feel good to use it.

Thanks for the comments.
Goodwoody, I use charcoal mostly, sometimes with some anthracite (coal), but lately got a stash of coke which is great. I have used gas but don't have a gas forge myself...yet! I use oxy-acet or oxy-LPG for tempering and fine tuning forms, which I find has more control.
Cheers,Andy Mac
