    Default Great Show.

    Hi to you all,
    Arrived 10.20am. left 3.10pm.
I had a Great Day, spoke to a lot of people as well as a lot of Woodturning Friends.
Had a couple of buys, 2 of which I should not have done, but when you come across wood that is not available, here in Vic. then you just have to buy.
What was it you ask, 2 nice pieces of Conkaberry, & a piece of WA She Oak, hard as, I suspect.
The couple that had this wood had some very nice Bandsawn Boxes, great finish, as I'm a Bower Bird too. Love shiny shiny.
Most of the Stalls seemed to be doing a fair trade. Hard to get served at times.
Asked about numbers of people, & was told approx. 500, as when I was leaving.
The New Venue was HUGE with heaps of room to move around in. Food & Drink also.
Most likely back to the original site next year.
It is still open Tomorrow Sun. 25th.
    Regards,
    issatree.

It was a good day. The new venue was spacious and there was plenty to see. There were quite a few exhibitors selling timber. No where near as much as there was at the Timber and working with wood show a couple of weeks ago but the prices were far more reasonable and the quality was much higher.

Their local Mitre 10 store had a stand and were offering some great specials on Dremel and Bosch products. They were giving out showbags with Dremel freebies - A mini leatherman style tool, a USB stick shaped like a Dremel rotary tool, a dremel hat and a "dogtag" you could engrave your name or whatever onto using a Dremel engraving tool - all for free.

There was a knifemaker doing demos as well as demos of green woodworking/spoon carving, windsor charimaking, segmented turning, bandsaw boxmaking...

Ubeaut was there as was Jim Carrol, Arbortech, just plenty to see and reasons to spend money.

Congratulations to the Ballarat club on once again putting on a good show. I think this was the fifth consecutive year I have made the trip. I hope you stick with the new venue.

    Cheers

    Doug

Even more pics. Having a bit of a problem loading them so only done a few of what I took in the 3 posts.

Definitely worth a look. The kids corner was flat out all day going tap, tap with hammer and nails, making really nice boxes with carry handles, good for putting lego or toys in to take to a friends place to play with.

Some of the timber/wood is bordering on excellent and the prices are pretty reasonable compared to other shows. A number of handcraft stalls from the Craft Alive circuit have turned up with lots of stuff for the ladies and gents with a non woodie handcraft bent and look to be doing some pretty brisk trading.

O\Following on from Dougs post, on the commercial side, ScrewIT Screws are also here along with Woodfast, Gifkin (who have done doing some standing room only demo's) Big Stan (the original BS) from WMS and plenty of others.

Anyway here's the last of the pics I'll be putting on:
