Hastings Woodworkers Guild Club Auction News
Like all woodworking clubs, the Hastings Woodworkers Guild has grown and expanded over the years.
We have, over the last couple of years had annual cleanups and cleanouts, where we have gone through our tool stock and machinery, and have "moved on" items that have become duplicates, redundant or just in the way.
It is a great spring cleaning idea - even if it comes at the end of summer.
And so - after a monster club cleanup and tools sort, we held today our annual club tools auction for club members.
This allows surplus tools to be re-directed to members and encourages woodwork outside of the clubrooms.
It goes without saying that there are multiple bargains to be had at auction time.
A great time was had by all, and we finished with a sausage sizzle and good companionship.
Cheers
SG

Looks like a very productive and well stocked club SG. The auction sounds like a wonderful idea and I am sure that there were a few good buys to be had.
No offense intended but it is a shame not to see many younger faces amongst the group. Clubs are a wonderful opportunity for new woodworkers to get good advice as well as the opportunity for good priced tools and timbers, and they offer something that you cant get over the internet...... its a shame more new woodworkers don't take up club membership.

Thanks Ray.
Wadda ya mean Stinky - those were the young faces -
It is rare to have younger folks, although we do have a couple of young members.
For the vast majority of youngsters, it has to be controlled from a computer or screen to interest them.
Maybe one day the realisation that creativity with their hands won't be satisfied by a keyboard, will click in and they will find crafts like woodworking.
Anyhoo, we enjoy what we do, and many youngsters are fascinated to watch our demos.
We can only hope.
Cheers

Hey Stinky I resemble that remark I have met a number of these young gents and WE are relatively close in ages.
Its a hard road getting younger members due to a large number of factors maybe reason to start another thread although I think its been on the boil before.

The Telegraph Point Community held a benefit day for one of our local families today. The family in question is the heart and soul of the community here and has done so much for everyone, and is in need of community support.
Anyhoo, we held an exhibition day at the Tele Point School of Arts Hall with various fundraisers.
Outstanding success.
I'd just like to thank all the Community members who contributed in so many ways to this day.
A special thanks to all my Hastings Woodworkers mates and mate-ettes who came along to lend their support. This after a few days of really hard work - but fun - over at the clubrooms.
Fantastic.
I am overjoyed - what a great day.
Man I'm tired.
Cheers
