    Default Manufactured "bands"

I recently got a reddie because I dared to give someone a red who I think deserved it. He got the red because he mentioned that he liked a band called "rogue traders". As you may know they are a one of the new breed of pathetic bands who dont have an original chord in 'em. in fact thier most recent "song" is a blatent plagurisation of "My Sharona".

Mind you the "lead singer" of this "band" who's pretty much at the opening of every envelope in order to stretch her 15 minutes has a nice set of mammalian protrubrences - which in itself is a likeable thing right ?

I like most people who like music are very selective on what is "good" or "bad" thus - they are "bad" and anyone who s over the age of say... 15 deserves a red (methinks).

Anyway in my eyes reputation is for giving or taking according to your personal prejudices. Thus becuase this tosser likes a crapulent band I feel I am justified in redding him for admitting it. bad luck I say.

thus to the poll - should those who deserve to be scoffed at be scoffed at ?

Zed, I don't think Harry really took it in the manner in which you intended it. Some of us are more used to your simian ways than others

Now you two fellas shake hands and be friends. I'll have none of your nonsense today, it's Friday and I've finally come out from under a dark cloud I've been under all week.

    G'day Zed,

I'll agree with you on manufactured bands.

And where is the melody in stuff these days? Just repeated riffs - if any and a constant beat. It's all a POS.

Australia's darling boy from that thing on Ch 10, can't sing something original or write it and he rips a great Aussie song and calls it his song! I think Ted Bullpit should shoot him.

Only the great old bands can perform live on stage. Give me an example of someone today who actually looks like thye're performing live and not lipsincing to their own song? Modonna even lipsincs!

I'll stick to my stuff thanks, Pink Floyd and the stuff from the 80's. Yeah I like some new stuff, but I'm very selective.
None of this current R&B, hip hop POS thanks!

I gotta disagree on the bagging someones tastes point only, If we all liked the same stuff then it would get boring fast.

Music means something different to everyone, wether they enjoy abit of fun, a particular style or can appreciate the talent and quality of a musician. Shouldnt make derogatory remarks about something as silly as Music thats un-Australian!! Unless there a Kiwi then its ok haha ( im 1/2 kiwi so these remarks hold no ground )

Whats currently doing the rounds in my workshop

    Chris Cornell - Euphoria Morning
Colin Hay - Going Somewhere (Men at Work frontman, very very emotional music)
Jeff Buckley - Live at Siné (died way to young, amazing artist)
Best of John Lee Hooker 1965-1974 , absolute must have CD with duets with Van morrison is amazing to listen to 2 of the "greats
And a Dean Martin best of 4 CD set from the bargain bin at JB-hifi

But im getting off topic sorry (music is my 2nd passion)

    RogueTraders do infact BLOW GOATS

But if shes doing the "blowing" Ill be the goat hahaha

Gangsta rap, ordinary rap, gospel, kylie, shyte, madonna, shyte. its all shyte. 50 cent, snoopy dog, marilyn manson, and anyone like 'em...shyte. Nothing much worth listening to has been produced since the late 70's. And if anyone posts support for any of that crap I'm gonna cover 'em in red....:mad::mad::mad:

Ok i'll buy that if the disagreement is on whether "Stairway to Heaven" is better than "Livin Livin maid" or that the riff in "hot for teacher" is better than the drum solo on "Black dog"... but c'mon - if you like nana maskuri, or any of the other shyte - you may as well hold up a card to "say my musical taste is aligned with my grandmother / 12 yr old neice" Ie "in me date"

fair go - "rogue traders" ???? you're farking kidding right ???

I wouldn't like to get a reddie just because someone disagreed with my taste in music.

I think music has been going downhill since the 70s...

...the 1070s that is. Gimme those gregorian chants baby!

Music is Music, it's Tribal, It's Fun, It makes us smile, dance, tap our feet, fall in love, think & drink to, but that's all it is.
I could recite/sing every song word for word from Sgt Peppers by the time I was 5, knew what Mama Cass died from before Elvis left the building forever, tried to find hidden meanings in all sorts "sagist" tunes in my teens and early adulthood, before it dawned on me, John, Paul, Ringo & George were no more omnipotent than my own father, Jim Morrison had no more insight than Issac Asimov, and to top it all off was Gene Simmons a few years (decades even )ago saying to a reporter, "Why are you asking me these questions about world affairs, I'm a rock 'n roll artist, I play Guitar that's all I know" and you Gene are the one true sage of our age .
Does it make you wanna dance?, do you start singing along to it?, does it make you turn the radio up?, do you relate to it?, if yeah, right on brother who cares who wrote it, sang it, mixed it, and what it really means, don't over analyse just enjoy my brothers.

All good, it's the rich tapestry of music, to limit yourself to this that or the other is just plain silly, listen to your Kids' music you just may be surprised.
Shame on some of you Blokes, sounding I'll bet just like your Fathers:eek: .

Luckily one my old Mans' saving graces, was instilling in his offspring an appreciation of pleasing sounds in all its forms.
