    I agree with Iain. He won Physics prize in 1903 for the discovery of radio activity. He shared it with M. & Madame Curie.

    Bingo!

    Becquerel was famous for his work on radioactivity, but his main area of research was in fluorescence. This eventually lead to the invention that allowed woodies to work late into the night - the fluorescent lamp.
