Red cedar was often used by Shingle splitters in the 1800's
Never heard of the term shingle sawers though.
Put red cedar shingles on the front of 3 terraces in double bay in the 1970's and they were split not sawn
Useless infomation for the day
About a third of all Americans flush the toilet while they're still sitting on it.
