2010 Kapex 120
Hi WWF,
i have been looking for a second hand Kapex 129 for almost 2 years now and one has finally cone up for sale. The seller has a receipt stating it was purchased in 2015 however the plate suggests it was manufactured in 2010.
Is there any difference between the 2010 version and the current?
chhers

Take this with a grain of salt, I'm far from an expert - but I don't think this product has undergone any changes since introduction.
I found this brochure online, and it was product November 2006 if I read the back "cover" correctly: http://www.allfasteners.com.au/media...re_kapex_1.pdf And the unit looks exactly the same as what's out there now.
The unit will pretty much be out of warranty either way. I would be looking at the condition of it, and I would be tempted to take a piece of wide (250-300mm) scrap sheet good and make a couple of test cuts on it to see if it cuts true.
If the condition is good, and the price is right...

Perhaps he purchased it second hand in 2015.....from a dealer.....
If the plate says 2010 then you should only pay for an 8 yo saw. No I don't think there are any differences, but I'm not certain.
Emmuch does he want for it?
Edit: just had a look at mine and on the front of the motor housing it says 2009 so I presume that is when it was made. I purchased it new in 2011 so it wasn't as "fresh" as it might have been.

He said he paid $2000 for it

just bear in mind that if the saw doesn't cut square, the problem is most likely a worn or buckled blade rather than a dud saw. But still a point for negotiation.
in terms of value, is a potentially 8 year* old Festool slider equivalent to a new $1000 SCMS?
* Personally, however, I think it's more likely that the saw was manufactured in 2010, shipped to Australia in 2011 and sold in 2015 as either a new saw or an ex-demonstrator. That range of dates would equate with what appears to be the AUS shelf life for other low volume tools.regards from Alberta, Canada
