Default Advice needed on selecting next Festool Vac for DIY single car shop.

    Hi all,
    Just sold my CT 36.
Just way to heavy for me for my DIY use in my sing car DIY shop.

I understand the the suction power is the same for a range of Festool vacs matching that of the CT 36.
Could anyone suggest the smallest/lightest/most inexpensive in that range?

Hoping to get bluetooth and can fit the 36mm hose as well as the 27mm(?) hose.

Any positive constructing suggestion is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Tempted to get this one instead:
CT 15l HEPA Class Dust Extractor
    Thanks,

Yep that’s the one, mine is at least 20 years old and will not die.

Barry I have that one. There is nothing much I can tell you that you won't glean elsewhere.

Festool sell a cyclone unit that does not fit on the CTL-MIDI. You can of course "home brew" one, but for what it's worth.

The other thing I would mention I didn't appreciate initially though was the smaller the vaccuum, the more frequent the bag changes. If you are a contractor you no doubt want something smaller and lighter in many cases. However in a shop where it's moved occasionally, you might prefer a bit longer between bag changes.

Ron Paulk used his cyclone to remove the dust from the bag to extend the age of the bag.

Barry, I have the CT26, which would be larger than the Midi but smaller than the CT36. I don't think that the size matters unless (1) the bag size is important (not so much for me), and (2) whether accessories will fit .... I have the Oneida collections system, which I suspect may not be available in Oz anymore. It is better than the Festool version, and worth finding, if you can find and fit one. Really excellent!

    Regards from Perth

Thanks to all who replied. Much appreciated.

Just purchased the CTM Midi-I online and had Uber package to drop it off.
    Thanks,

If you can get a reusable bag I recommend it. I used to suck my CT22 bag clean with my shop extraction, but have had the reusable for about 5 years now. The cpvacuum itself has had a few fiberglass repairs to its brittle aged body, but the bag is still great. Just emptied it for the 200th time. (A clean shop, but a diseased mind)*

*well, its been a long owner-builder project and the vacuum has been in almost daily use.

    Hi
I'm also considering this Festool vac. However, I don't understand the bag system. how does one empty the bag when it's full? I have been using an electrolux bagless-when the container is full I just empty it on the garden and re-attach. but it seems to be overheating now after a few year's good service.
I'd appreciate your experience about the use of the bag in the Festool? is it a nuisance?
    thanks

Stewart59 Festool has a normal disposable bag Replacement Selfclean Filter Bags for CT 15/MINI/MIDI-2 - 5 Pack or a reusable long life bag Reusable Long Life Filter Bag for CT 15/MIDI-2
You will note that the long life bag is "Not recommended for use with the fine dust created by sanding."
In my case, (I have the Midi) I find I replace the bag about every six months so the cost is not too great. If I was doing a lot of planning or routing I may need to change it more often. In ten years of use, only once have I had a bag chockers.
With the old model Midi I kept a spare bag on board so that one time it was chockers was not much of a drama. Just a matter of always having a spare bag handy.
