Battery pack question
Does anyone know what the difference is between the following 2 Festool batteries except for the AH?
Why such a big difference, or has it something to do with quality of the cells? BPS vs. BPC model number difference. Both are 14.4V.
BPS 15 Li 2,6 Ah = $225
and
BPC 15 Li 3,0 Ah = $120

Hi Les,
No quality difference at all. The 3.0Ah is an update to the 2.6Ah. They are the same physical size but the 3.0Ah has slightly higher capacity cells. The 14.4v 2.6Ah should not now be more expensive than the 3.0Ah batteries.

Hi Les,
The price listed for the 2.6Amph is incorrect. It is actually $100 and has been since 1 Jan 2012.

I hope this makes sense,

Thanks Blair. My question arose due to the fact that the batteries with model number BPS vs. BPC have a huge price difference, and I then wondered whether there was a quality difference.

The Batteries.
Hi Les,
Not sure if this will work for you, but if you get the correct driver to take the Battery apart & gently remove the Batteries, then take a few Photos, so as you don't forget how they go back.
Jaycar or similar would be the place to go, & of course, take Batteries with you, & I think you would be surprised at the cost difference.
You will have to solder them all together.
Not sure if that helps, but I tried it & it worked for me.Regards,
issatree.

There is nothing wrong with the batteries I have. I have both the BPS and BPC model numbers and was wondering if there was a quality difference.

Hi Les
I omitted to tell you the difference between the BPS and BPC battery pack in my previous reply.
The BPC Battery back is fitted with a metal belt clip on the bottom of the battery pack and the BPS (Standard) doesn't have one fitted. Otherwise the batteries perform identically. See image attached showing the clip (BPC model)
I hope that clears it up,

Thanks for the feedback. The clip was always an obvious difference. The difference in model numbers and a huge price difference made me wary. Seems I have nothing to worry about. After all Festool give a 3 year warranty on all the batteries.
