Cristal love
No, not that kind of love!
If you haven't tried the Cristal sandpaper yet for fast stock removal, I tell you it's ace! Can't wear it out. Won't clog. I like Rubin but Cristal is the bee's knees. Try it, you'll like it.Cheers,
Bob

Rubin- holes not right!
Just whilst we are on papers, I got some coarse grit Rubin (125mm) for my 125 (5") Rotex the other day and was not impressed to find the holes do not match the pad! They were stamped Festool on the back so is their brand too. So much for good dust extraction. I ended up drilling in some new holes myself. Has anyone else found this? or is this just a bad batch and I should have taken them back perhaps? Too late now. The holes were placed in closer to the centre than the pad requires (approx 13mm) in from where they need to be. I am sure going to check before I walk out of the store next time.

They are festool papers!
I will try photograph them although they are now a bit changed since I drilled some new holes in them to match the Rotex holes. Believe me they are Festool and I did get them from the local Festool dealer. I know I thought it strange but there you go. And yes they do have Festool on the back so are the genuine article. Maybe being in NZ we got pawned off with some bad stock. Too late to take em back now as I've drilled new holes in em.
Let me see if I can get some pics up tomorrow for ya all.

If you can it would be good, if not no bother. I would take them back to the supplier anyway or at least let them know. If the same happened to one of my customers I would want to see the abrasives and exchange them for ones that fit right.

Pics of said paper...
Here's some photos to illustrate what I mentioned earlier.
Festool Rubin 125mm paper I had to drill new holes to match my Rotex 125mm. Note "original" holes and the new and the Brilliant2 paper has the centre hole smaller than usual. Not sure if it's intentional either? Maybe because its finer paper the centre hole for it can be smaller? One in the bush is better than two in the hand

HotChips - I see what you mean, the holes are miles out. Given the price of Festool papers, I'd definitely have taken them back.
I'm wondering if Festool make papers to suit any other brands of sander?? Other than that, the only explanation I can think of is that the papers are a knock off from China.....but they would have had trouble spelling 'Festool' correctly

Thanks for the images HotChips.
In response to Mr Bush, Festool do make abrasives for a couple of other sanders, but only a very limited number for some specific machines. A Porter Cable giraffe sander (abrasive is possibly discontinued now), and a couple of Rupes sanders.
HotChips abrasives look genuine enough, but these seem to be old stock for an earlier model Festool sanding pad with a less efficient hole pattern to the current one. I think the transition was made very early 2000's - maybe even earlier.
So I don't think it is a faulty batch of abrasives, just old stock. So it is worth checking the hole pattern to be sure - because the reverse could happen if someone had the old hole pattern pad and brought new hole pattern abrasives.
Personally, I have not come across these old pattern abrasives since we started our Festool store in 2005.
