carvex pcb 420 cordless
Hi
Do any of you own the festool cordless jigsaw? Whats the battery life like on it? Im think of getting one but unsure on how much i will be able to cut on each charge.
Its for business use i install kitchens so sinks cut outs and cutting fillers and kicks down is what i do.
Cheers
Bryan

I only just recently purchased one - although the PSBC 420 (D handle). Have only done some tests and am very impressed with quality of the cuts. There is a video on the tube where the Festool guy in the USA states that one will cut about 26m of 32mm timber (probably soft wood).

With the brushless technology everyone that has given us feedback so far has all been positive saying its the closest to a power jigsaw they have found. One of our customers was saying he gets 3-5 kitchen installs a day with it. Didn't specify if it was with the 2 batteries or 1

Hi Bryan,
The CARVEX jigsaws work with both 15v and 18v batteries. But 15v is only a nominal value. It is in fact 14.4v because these batteries are made up of a number of 1.2v cells. So each a "15v" battery is really 12 x 1.2v cells. An 18v battery is actually 18v, made up of 15 x 1.2v cells. And for completeness, the "12v" batteries used by some of the Festool drills, are really 10.8v made up of 9 x 1.2v cells.
Back to the CARVEX, it will fun on any all three "12v", "15v", and 18v batteries. Some of the kits ship with 15v batteries because 15v is the most commonly used battery/drill voltage in the Festool range. But adding 18v battery gives a small amount of extra power according to my own limited testing.

There's no reason to hesitate on the 420 cordless. The batteries last well, they give plenty of run time and they also charge quickly.
Don't expect to put the cordless in one of the CMS modules - you should really use a mains version for that.
FWIW the Protool 18V's are compatible too.
