Well... more than $20 grand worth of suckers did, if my quick maths is correct.

Definitely a fly in fly out scammer. Everytime I see sellers dump loads of gear on Ebay with no prior experience in doing so or prices are too good to be true, I run, not walk away.

The seller is probably laughing all the way to the bank though.

I'd imagine for this level of fraud the cops might get involved? Yes?

    Richard
I know of two people who were cash on collection so that's two suckers' sales he missed out on, I find it hard to believe he's found that many takers.

If his bank account details are false then surley that's enough for the cops to investigate & if not, he's not too bright!

Does anyone know of anyone who has paid this guy?

I've reported one of his listings on pure suspicion, Ebay did nothing, I suspect they will wait till a few more people lose money

Fraudster he might be, but until he's broken one of Ebay's rules, he's an honest seller, with a right to the presumption of innocence like the rest of us.

This IS exactly why ebay are banning direct deposits.

Oh, and the golden rule, "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is"

    The response after I complained:

I regularly bid for tools but one seller has me worried as a result of some negative feedback. There were agreat many tools 'sold' and i suggest the bad feedback today is only the first of many negative feedbacks for this seller. How can i be assured this does not happen to me?http://myworld.ebay.com.au/6206_camping/

Thank you for waiting, I have reviewed this member and yes you are correct, they did receive a negative comment. Feedback is used so you can judge a persons character, we cannot guarantee this will not happen to you, I recommend contact this seller and have them address all your concerns before you place your bid. If you still have doubts from this seller, I recommend you find a similar item from another seller

Do I assume E Bay is not prepared to censure this individual. He is allowed to continue trading on E Bay and it is up to customers to somehow gauge his authenticity through e mails? it is one thing to blatantly rob a customer but sending the block of wood is downright offensive.
    7:48:38 PM Paul C.
We only investigate the seller if a buyer has filed a report against them, we do not follow up based on feedback comments as we cannot restrict what a member leaves as their comment. If the buyer files a report against the seller, then we can certain open an investigation

Thank you. I look forward to the investigation on this individual.
    7:50:30 PM Paul C.
Great, in the meantime, if you don't feel comfortable with this member, it's best you look for similar items from other sellers on eBay
    7:52:54 PM ME
OK. Thank you for your time. it does not leave me confident with E Bay's security practices and my purchases from now on will be limited to small items- less than $20 until this is turned around. Good night. Exit

I have filed 2 formal reports against this guy and they re still letting him trade. I just feel sorry for the poor buggers that have been robbed. I was very tempted to put a listing stating that he is a fraudulent seller with the title Festool. The problem is I dont know what ebay will do to my account...

I'm sorry, routermaniac, you're right in that what he is doing is wrong, but until he's committed a crime, they have no basis for doing anything to him.

Once he's defrauded a buyer, they'll suspend his account and report him to the police.

But you have to have a victim before you can have a crime.

Although his listings are dodgy (he has no permission to use the photos and the line about paypal being broken both break Ebay policies), Ebay have no evidence that the guy isn't going to go to his local Carbatec and buy products to send to the lucky bidders...
    Cheers, Richard

Here's another example from the lighter side of life (although if you'd just paid $2000 you wouldn't be laughing)

That is my point precisely, at least one person has suffered a loss, see his last feedback

Last night I lodged a report with ebay as well. It seems everyones continued reporting must have paid off, either that or same buyers started jumping up and down as all his auctions have been pulled - now has 4 negative feedbacks

How did you lodge a report? eBay wants you to buy something before you can report it?

Press the report this item button at the bottom of the page (probably need to be logged in), select a category and press send. Only problem I found was that the category I chose (I think it was fraud) did not allow me to put a description of what I believed was wrong in it, it just sent of the item number to them. Other times that I have reported items for shill bidding like this clown I have been able to write a message with it to explain what I believe the problem is.

    Default Been Busted...

Judging by Ebay's procedures around suspected fraud, they are too goddamm slow to act and will only do so AFTER somebody's been hurt. In this case quite a number of people who have (presumably) paid out large sums of dough. Remember the phrase "buyer beware"?

Got this from Ebay last night:

    Hello ricgstevens,

Our records indicate that you recently received an email from 6206_camping through eBay's email system and that it may contain a fraudulent offer to purchase or sell an item off the eBay site.

    * Please consider the following safety tips before you act on this email:

    - Do not respond to the sender if the message is an offer to buy or sell an item outside the eBay website. This type of offer is against eBay policy and if the transaction takes place, it will not be eligible for buyer protection.

    - If you received what looks like a Second Chance Offer for an item you recently bid on and it's appearing in My Messages it may not be legitimate. Real Second Chance Offers appear in My Messages with a blue background and the subject line 'eBay Second Chance Offer for Item ...'.

    - Never pay for your eBay items using instant cash wire transfer services such as Western Union or MoneyGram.

    * If you already sent payment for an item that was bought outside the eBay website, or if you shipped an item to a fraudulent buyer, we suggest you take the following steps:

    - Contact the payment service you used to make the purchase and ask if they provide consumer protection in cases of online fraud. If you shipped an item to a fraudulent buyer, contact the carrier you used.

    - Contact the local authorities in the area where the seller/buyer resides.

    * Please also take the time to provide more information on the transaction bought/sold outside of eBay. The information you provide will help us work with law enforcement if an investigation occurs. Go to the following page and choose 'Item Bought Outside of eBay' or 'Item Sold Outside of eBay' and follow the instructions.

Too little too late for some I fear!

    Richard
