It’s not that the Australian prices are high, but that the U.S. prices are lower. The U.S. prices are lower than prices in Germany too. This is because Christian Oltzcher, CEO of Festool-USA, is very active in gauging the product line to the needs of the market. Festool-USA is the only division of Festool that is actively pursuing improving the product manuals too. There are many other things that Festool-USA does differently than the other divisions of Festool.

Our prices are higher because of market size, here they might import a couple thousand in the 1st year then a few hundred a year... USA be in the hundred's of thousands.

Because they think they have us by the short & curlies And despite being convicted & fined in court, they seem to still be engaging in price fixing.
The best way to demonstrate your displeasure is to buy someone else's tool, or find a work-around, like a Leigh FMT jig instead of a Domino, or your old router & a simple jig like the one Rocker put up. And/or complain about price fixing to the ACCC.
