CT-22 Dust Extraction with non-Festool products
I have been interested in the CT-22 Dust extractor (and don't get me started on the other festool goodies) for some time and I am wondering how it would go with other non-Festool shop tools, such as a bench-top thicknesser. Are these dust collectors just suited to other festool tools (rotex 150, etc), or does this machine work well with more 'heavy duty' machines? (Assume I can link the hoses without problems).
An option might be to use a dust cyclone system between the tool and dust collector. Would that protect the CT-22 better? I am particularly thinking of larger chips which you might get off a table saw, etc.
Cheers in advance,
Mark

I wouldn't recommend the CT-22 for your thicknesser or table saw or any other heavy duty machines. The hose is too small and its not designed to move the larger chips from the thicknesser. You need a larger dust extractor like these types http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?FamilyID=5253
where you could use one of those cyclone systems you linked to.
But I would recommend the CT-22 for any handheld powertools be it Festool or other brands.

I've used the CT22 with the Makita lunchbox thicknesser and a 50mm hose and it works pretty good. It'd work even better with a cyclone of course. Haven't had the time or necessity to experiment, the last load of timber I got was S4S.
I regularly use the CT-22 with my CMS and a TS-55 fitted, so there's your table saw app. It would have worked fine with the Dewalt TS I used to own. It would work well with any contractor size table saw. The key there is a larger diameter hose.
The only real caution I'd offer is not to try to use it with a blower fan chip ejector, like on the larger Dewalt thicknesser.
I've got the cloth bag, which is fantastic.Do nothing, stay ahead

Hi Mark,
The CT-22 will work really well with a benchtop thicknesser if you use either 36 or 50mm ID hose. 36mm ID is good enough if 2.5m or less in length.
You would want to be using the long-life-filter-bag though else unnecessarily waste a lot of disposable bags.

I use mine with my ROS and belt sanders and with a bosch hand planer. I have a ts75 and a domino, but spend more time sanding than sawing )
I also have a 6.75 HP 16 gallon shop vac that is sufficient for a dw735 planer. Well, that is if you use a hepa filter on the vac and don't mind burning through dust bags.___
