Domino shop vac connection?
Hi folks,
I caved and ended up ordering a domino - I can't figure out from pictures what the dust port is. I'll be connecting a non-Festool shop vac (2.5 inch hose I think) - is there anything special about the Domino dust port, or do I just need to find an appropriate size reducer? What's the diameter?
Cheers,
Dann

The outside diameter of the Domino dust port is approx 27mm.

Rockler in the US have just brought out an adapter/hose combination to fit Festo and other brand power tools to a shop vac hose for around $40US. http://www.rockler.com/dust-right-un...-port-hose-kit
I got one a while ago and have just found that Rockler have entered into some dodgy deal to try to force you to pay UPS to deliver your goods and then charge you brokerage, GST and all the miscellaneous fees they can think of - when I complained I was advised to just change my country back to US/$US and ask shipping to quote for USPS - the difference on one large item looked to be around $300US! extra over USPS. I am sufficiently p155ed at them over this that I haven't ordered anything from them since.

Awesome - thanks for the link! I have been looking through my collection of vac reducers wondering if I have anything that fits, the Rockler set means at least I have a plan B if nothing works.

Domino arrived today, and in a quick check during my lunchbreak I think I have a reducer ring where the ID slips over the domino port and the OD fits neatly in my vac hose. A small screw poking out of the reducer to prevent it being sucked all the way into the hose, and hopefully I am all set... Will be trying it tonight!

I ended up ordering the rockler small port collection - works significantly better than my bodged together adaptor. Grips the festool port well and the 'ribbed' end kind of screws into my shop vac hose (despite the hose not having any sort of screw fitting) quite nicely.
