Best wishes in the ongoing treatment Shed, fingers crossed for a great & positive outcome so that you're up and about & back in amongst the wood.

Actually IS a hard choice mate but necessary. The Merc is a beautiful vehicle in really great condition. My other is a clapped out Courier but almost worthless. The news I got today was not that great re my neck. Booked in for an MRI for a more detailed look. No reflexes in my arms and hands or lower legs. Don't feel pain so gotta lay off saw benches and stuff. Lucky the commission is all cut ready for m/t's. Can handle that at least. Told to do nothing risky until I have the MRI results. Fingers crossed they can fix me up.

Been pretty quiet regarding the D700 XL seen all the promo's regarding this and the prices just has'nt appeared on the local scene in the same explosive scenario as with the D500.

Looking forward to the local reviews.

    I'm not too surprised.

going on the sales blurb, the 500 appears more suited to furniture makers, with the XL targetted more to carpenters, making dining tables (12mm tenons) and large doors (14mm tenons)

Had an opportunity whilst in Perth over the weekend to have a decko at the new domino and like any Festool gear its hard not to be impressed.

I have had a lot of thought about this machine can I justify it etc etc?
Having had a play with it and been given a really generous price offer I bit the bullet and decided to take one home with me .

It may not be in constant use much like the smaller DF500 however I'm going to use it to make some new doors for the house as well as build a new workbench for the shed.

I have a lot of good straight Jarrah thats just crying out to be used so I can see where this will be put to good use.

I came away without getting any of the long in stick dominos and regret not doing so but I will down the track.

I reckon Festool with their marketing the cutters as an individual buy option is the one downside to this machine, but in saying that it is also dependant on how you max out usage of the various dominos.

    Cheers

    Hi All,

I've been lurking ... but I'll stick my head up now.

Grabbed the 700 a few days ago. I need to clear some space ... then I'll be able to put this little puppy to use.

Lots of ideas - but too little time. At least Festool let's me do things a little faster when I do get the opportunity.

Had another look at this yesterday while at a festool demo and after talking with one of the german techs and I think at least 3 sales staff I still didnt pull the trigger however someone came up with an idea. My problem with the machine is the size of bore holes 8mm is too large for the 19mm crapiata I use a lot of (so get the original dom you say) but I also do quite a bit of heavier work(so get the xl as well) pockets arn't deep enough at the mo. back to the idea get a 6mm bit made for the xl end of problem hopefully that wont prove to difficult to get made up
