Default Festool Drill and driver dimensions?

I'm looking to ditch all my cordless stuff and start again and can't decide which system to go with so I've done up a table of what's on offer from all the brands including the features that are important to me. One of the things I'm looking at is the length of the drill and the driver but I cannot find anything on the net anywhere for the Festool PDC 18V drill and the TID 18 driver. Can anyone here throw a ruler across theirs and fill in the gap for me please????

Default Festool Drill and driver dimensions?

    I hope this helps?

I got the TID18 and C18. I considered the PDC but figured for the odd occasion I need the hammer function I’ll just use my corded hammer drill. The C18 is a beautiful drill- very smooth and comfortable. The T18 is available if you prefer the traditional grip. You can also get the offset chuck for the C/T18 but with the PDC I’m almost certain you can’t.

    Cheers

Thanks very much for that info groeneaj! The reason I was looking at the PDC 18 was that the two drill/driver combo kits are both going for the same price so I thought I might as well go for the hammer option if the drill isn't too long overall. I too would rarely use the hammer function but my corded hammer drill is pretty much useless so it could be handy.
Will also have to look at whether the C18 and the T18 are the same length I suppose.

Go into your nearest fe$tool dealer (total tools?) and try all three - they feel very different. Or call the rep and they'll come and visit you with all of them for you to play with an d pierce some wood.

I was going to get the C18 until I held it in my meaty paw. Opted for the T18 after trying them all.

I do not have my PDC handy to measure, but it will be larger than the C18.

The PDC 18/4 is not the one-drill workshop drill. It is a powerhouse for when you need the extra power and torque, and will heavier than the C18. It is also rated as having the greatest upper speed than any other drill. This drill could break your wrist. It is fantastic.

I use it in combination with a C12, which is really the perfect small drill for a workshop. In Oz and Europe it is rated at 10.8v, while in the USA it becomes 12v (both the same motor, just different specification methods).

What the PDC has that (I believe) the C18 does not have are all the accessories for drilling into corners, etc. The C12 also has these. Very useful.

    PDC 18/4 ...

    C12 ...

That's just a little difficult - 10hrs from the nearest dealer here

Thanks for the tips Derek. The main reason I was going for the 18V range is that I'm looking to get the angle grinder as well and only want one charger/battery system - part of the reason for the upgrade. The more I look into this, the more difficult the decision becomes, especially when there are some brands on my list that aren't available out here to test-drive in my mitt

I started out hoping for this too... and now have festool big 18V batteriesw, festool slim 18V's (for the sanders) - both fortunately use the same charger - dewalt flexvolt for their drill/impact driver/angle grinder, and Husqvarna for the chainsaw and garden shredding. Festool do accurate, fine control tools very well, DeWalt do meathead brute force well, and the chainsaw and garden are just another world, so they were worth a specialist manufacturer.

The festool angle grinder and impact wrench weren't around when I got the DW equivalents, so that might have swayed things, but I did get all three of my DW tools for less than the festool impact driver would have cost, so it can't all be bad.

Your other Fe$tool option is to take advantage of their 30 day money back guarantee. It's no questions asked, and they will honour it, so you can get the tools and return them if you don't like them. Still worth talking to their rep and seeing what they can do - there's a reason the tools are so expensive. Their service (in my experience) is excellent.

Brave move; as soon as you re-equip they will change their battery dimensions so they won'f fit future uogrades.

I have tried to standardise on batteries several times. I have failed.

After much head scratching I gave some thought to what groeneaj said about the hammer function and decided it was not something I'm even likely to use after all. On the other hand, the ability to switch chucks is something I would really like to have - can't count the number of times the offset and angle chucks would have been so handy (didn't even know the offset version existed!). Swappable chucks knocked every brand off my list except the Festool and Metabo so I put together a Metabo package that would suit me perfectly with a couple of extra bonuses and asked a local dealer to see if they can match the price. If they can't match it or don't get back to me, I might end up adding to my Festool stable but their reluctance to bargain puts me off.
Another plus for the Metabo is their participation in the Cordless-Alliance-System so batteries should be around for a long time and be easier to get. I've already got Stihl batteries for all my garden stuff except the 30l garden sprayer which just happens to use a CAS battery - wins all round!.
