Festool RO 90 Sander
Gear-Driven Eccentric Sander RO 90 DX FEQ ,tried this 90mm sander out at the TWW show recently and wondered what folks take might be on it.
Personally I did'nt like it, not usually something you'd say about a Festool tool and I have a helluva lot of them and do like it's big brother the 150mm a nice handling tool
I did't particularly like the handling on this one for some reason it did not feel comfortable for me,the balance of the tool did'nt appeal to me.
I'd be interested in other folks views moreover if they have the tool and have worked it!
CheersJohnno

I purchased one and have been using it fairly hard for the past 6 weeks. I restore outdoor timber mainly decks but also screens, steps, fascias etc. I have found the 90 to be much easier to hold all day when sanding vertical faces. It also lets me squeeze into places where the 150 is too large. I have 2 150s and have absolutely flogged them and they just keep going. I have found the 125 just didn't have the grunt needed but the 90 has more grunt for its size. There is also the bonus with using the triangle head to clean out 90 degree corners. So I guess it is just a matter of what you want to do with it.

I appreciate your points jimj ,one mans (mine) take on something dos'nt necessarily cross all boundaries I just decided that I did not have a need for the tool as others might.

My personal take on the RO90 is positive. While it's an expensive little beast, I find its versatility and light weight a distinct advantage. The fact that it's an effective Random orbit sander, nowhere near as aggressive as the RO150, and a Delta sander almost as well balanced and vibration free as the Deltex, makes it reasonable value for money.
It confirms my belief that Festool makes excellent sanders. In fact, probably the best available.
Pity the same can't be said for the rest of their products. I'm becoming quite disillusioned with many of my other Festools, especially the PS300, Kapex and Cordless drills. They just don't seem to be very well designed, at least for my intended uses anyway.Sycophant to nobody!

Well I had a job to sand and thought the new 90mm would be just the thing. Couldn't be happier.
It is a powerful little sander and when you use it with 80 grit Granit paper (blue) you must have dust extraction hooked up or you will be eating dust.
I do have a 150mm Rotex as well but this is my new favourite sander for smaller surface area jobs.
