Festool Rotex - Which pad for polishing?
Hi. A few months ago, I bought a new Festool Rotex 150 FEQ for my "wood-oriented" projects. Since I wanted to use it for polishing my car too, I bought three of their polishing pads. That's the good news...
The bad news is that I just found out that their polishing pads are 5" across! Because I've been busy, I never examined them closely. Yesterday, I pulled out a Festool polishing pad and plopped it on top of a 7.5" Lake Country VC sponge which requires a 6" pad.
So...
What pad do you use with your Festool Rotex for polishing? Do you have the old or new one Rotex 150? Festool pads? Others? What size? If a Festool sanding pad, which one (soft, medium, or hard)?

, they immediately offered to let me return them. But, I still need to get the right pad.

Never use a pad for sanding paper! Even the soft one is way too solid.
Use a support pad especially for polishing code: PT-STF D150 FX-RO150 in conjuction with a sponge code: PS-STF-D150X30-XX-XXXX for bringing the polish on. And a special woolpad or lamscoatpad for finishing code: PF-STF-D150x20-XX and/or LF-STF-D150

Your local Woodcraft should now stock the proper Festool pads and polishers for your RO 150. I think you bought the ones that fit the RO 125. There is a polishing pad backer as well and it is not expensive.

Hi
For those who are not familiar with Festool polishing product, the MP range commes with four grades 6000, 8000, 10000, and 11000. The last one being the finest grain for an amazing finish. you apply it like any other polishing cream. Specially recommended with the Rotex.
