Does Festool ever go on sale?
I’ve finally succumbed and decided to buy a Festool dust collector - going to go for the CTM Midi and the CT-VA cyclone which together add up to a sizeable $1600 purchase.
Does Festool have regular annual promotions?

There is usually always a promotion of some description running, the price is often the same but you will get a bonus accessory included.
When I bought my tracksaw I received a second track for free which are normally $200.
Subscribe to their website and you will receive current promotions running.

As beardy, they never seem to discount the prices , just add to the promotion like hoses with the dusty or something like that.

Also the local dealer will come to you and demonstrate the tools for free, then you are free to buy from wherever.
I've found it pretty easy to tee up a time in SE QLD during business hours. I assume regional areas are harder.

I bought my TS55 and CT26 as a package deal, I forget the exact numbers but it was a considerable discount on buying them separately, hundreds of dollars if I remember correctly, that was a Festool promotion.
Near new second hand Festool products seem more common than other brands, I always check out the second hand market for a while before buying and have scored a couple of decent buys, of course more often than not I see the good secondhand deals just after I buy new
EDIT: I see there is a CT15 on ebay in Sydney, at a very good price currently, might be worth a look.
Cheers Andrew

Brochure -> current campaign. Usually run for 3 months, and then the deals change.
the only time you'll get a discount from an official dealer is when they sell ex-display, which is usually when there's a model update. The track saws, rails, and the old PDC drill have all been updated recently, so you may be able to find the outgoing models at a discount (and I'd ask for one if I was in the market and spotted an old model on the shelf)

I still shake my head when I see the prices of the guide rails. Would love a 2.7m so I can rip a 2.4 sheet without having to join two rails, but I could never justify the cost.
The new OF1010 looks nice (is the price tag of $1010 Festool’s idea of a joke?). I almost wish my ancient OF900 would blow up so I have an excuse to buy the 1010. It won’t die though.

Given the prices those blokes charge, it probably paid for itself on that job!

Re: guide rails, especially true when the Makita 3m track is only $300 vs over $600 for the Festool 2.7m

Get a Makita 3m track for about 40% of the cost. The only downside is the raised rail is 0.5mm different than the Festool, so you can’t join them, and you have to set up your saw's cam adjustments to hug the Makita track. I got my Makita track delivered last year for just under $300. I have kept most of my Festool tracks for router , LR32 and MFT use.
I was having issues with joined tracks flexing just out of linear to make a single long track a must.
On edit: for some reason I didn’t see the post above prior to my reply. So my big revelation about Makita tracks is yesterday’s news.
So here’s another tip: the Makita track edge black splinter tape material is better than Festool's and it stays attached better than the Festool clear plastic material. It's easier to see the edge of the track, and of course its much cheaper too. It's all part of the service here at The House of Pain™
