Import 150 FEQ help
I'm planning a trip to the US soon and was wondering if I bought the 150 FEQ Rotex Sander there if it would work back here in Australia. Would it simply be a matter of replacing the detachable power cord with an Australian one?
It would save me a couple of hundred dollars.

1* No
2* No
(110v there, 240v here, therefore different motors. 240v will cook a 110v motor.)

Thanks mate. I was hoping that it might be dual voltage (120/240V) but no luck.

For what it's worth, you can get a stepdown transformer that would allow you to use US tools in Australia.
Power tools are far cheaper in the US and I pondered going down this route when I bought all my Festool gear but I don't like the inconvenience of having to use the stepdown transformers and I am not sure I trust them (not sure if it increases the possibility of current surge etc).
Many companies (not sure about Festool) void the warranty on the tool when it leaves the country of purchase. Even if the different country problem doesn't hit, you may have a problem if you have been using the tool via a stepdown transformer and it goes wrong.

And the best part is you have to send it all the way back to USA for any warranty problems as I am sure the locals will not wear this.
